Crackdown (360) (Demo)

Last time I played this, I didn’t really like it. It seems that, according to People On The Internet, I’ve been playing it all wrong. I shouldn’t treat it as a GTA clone, but instead as a superhero jumpy-leapy-throwy game. So I did. And it’s WAAAAAAAAY better! In fact, it takes the way I play GTA (try to go where you’re not supposed to) into the actual proper way to play! Aces. I’m converted then.

Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)

I finished the next bit of trial, and then it was back to the scene of the crime to uncover more clues. Upon on uncovering one of them (and opening up the Hotti Clinic, where a seemingly-fake hospital director resides, and is somewhat lecherous), I think I’ve figured out the whole case. How I go about proving that in court, however, I don’t know. Yet.

Prey (360)

It was cheap (from PlayAsia), so I bought it. I do like it, as it’s a bit different to other FPS games, due mainly to the portals and gravity-altering thingies. I’m up to Chapter 7 or so now. I haven’t had an especially difficult time yet, not least because when you die, you don’t actually die – you have this minigame where you shoot down bat things to get health back. As you do. I just wish Tommy (the hero) …

Fire Emblem (GBA)

Chapter 18x was really easy, even though I took all the wrong units in to battle. I knew there would be a load of magic users to fight, so I took all my magic users in. Then, of course, after a few turns, someone casts Silence over half the map, and renders them all useless. However, it also rendered all the enemy magic units useless too, and all of the huge knights dotted around were easy enough to kill off …

Fire Emblem (GBA)

Plowed through loads of chapters this afternoon, finally getting to Chapter 10, where Lyndis finally gets to the castle and defeats her evil great-uncle. Well, actually I did, but never mind. My saved games says almost five hours played. And guess what? Lyndis’ mission is pretty much just a prologue. How huge is this game? So I’m on Chapter 12 now, after completing 11 with new “hero” Eliwood. The man-with-an-axe, whose name escapes, me has joined my new party, as …

Sonic Advance 2: SONIC BOOMED!

With Sonic Rush out next week, and this still not completed and Sonic Advance 3 still unplayed, I thought I’d best get my finger out and do something about it. So I completed it! Turns out the boss I was stuck on at the end of Sky Doobrie Zone wasn’t as hard as I’d previously thought. I just needed to be more careful. The next two zones were pretty easy too, as were the bosses. And then came the “XX” …

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

Castlevania seems to have turned into a sort of Metroid clone since Castlevania IV. Not that I’m complaining, since I really enjoyed Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission, and this kind of fills the hole that their completion has left. In may ways it is better too. You get more freedom over where you’re supposed to go, and there is less hand-holding. There is still all the exploration and upgrades, but there are so many upgrades to find, choose, use, and …

Viewtiful Joe 2 – VIEWTIFULLY DONE!

End of game boss time! Almost! A black almost-clone of Joe appears, who has a bit of a gloat, then gets into a HUUUUUUUUGE robot. You know the robot battle from Viewtiful Joe? Where your robots are about the size of earth? Well, this time you and “Ultra Black Behemoth Dark Kaiser” are bigger than the sun. In fact, the baddie spends most of his time standing on the sun, and you run around the solar system’s asteroid belt avoiding …

Sonic Advance 2

Ah yes, a proper Sonic game. Not like that Sonic Heroes monstrosity, with its stupid 3D-ness and team-ness and Cream-ness and die-for-no-reason-ness. This is a normal 2D Sonic, and because of that, it works. Although it suffers from some generic 2D platformer traits (ice/fire/grass levels, etc.), it makes up for it by actually being fun and not crap. OK, so I died a few times, but unlike Heroes, I felt it was my fault, and not the game just being …

Fable: DONENESS

So it seems I was right near the end of the game then. Like, 30 minutes from it. Had to chase after Jack all over the place, being attacked by hordes of baddies on the way. Luckily, there were plenty of other heroes and guards and stuff around to take them on, so I just ran past them all. Eventually, I ended up at the Hall of Fate back in the Guild for the final showdown. Which was disarmingly easy. …

Fable

Since I’m a Right Proper Hero now, I thought I’d best do some Right Proper Heroing. Off I trundled to a nearby town, and talked to all the local laydees. I then examined a bookcase in a house, only to find it wasn’t “examining”, but “stealing”, and the guards ran after me. And hit me with swords. Gah – I was trying to be nice as well. Managed to get away (I couldn’t pay the fine as I didn’t have …

Fable

After some suggestions on uk.games.video.misc, I decided to make a start on Fable. And what a strange game it is. The first thing to hit me was the accents – every English dialect appears to be covered. The next thing was the bizarre shadows on people’s faces, as if there are invisible light sources than keep moving. Very odd, and a little off-putting, especially when coupled with the Daz-enchanced Whiter Than Whiteness of my clothes. But I digress. Went round …
