Orbital (GBA)

I’m up to level 26-ish now. Some of them have been really quite difficult – I was stuck on level 20 for absolutely ages before finally managing it. The problem now is there are lots of bits of “space debris” floating round the levels, as well as moving planets and stuff, making steering in and out of orbits somewhat difficult. Still love it, though.

Assorted Demo Games (360)

Played a few demo games this afternoon, as I’ve been downloading a few recently. They’re all the trial versions of Xbox Live Arcade titles. Robotron 2084: One of the many XBLA games that is similar to Geometry Wars. Could only play for a few minutes before the demo limit ran out, but it seems nice enough. Smash TV: Essentially the same game as the one above. Sort of. Again, there was a limit, but I got through about half of …

Brain Age (DS)

TWEEEENTY!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!! Of course, I’ve been 20 so many times now, it seems to have lost much of it’s impact, but anyway. Didn’t do that many trials today though, but I did complete another sudoku puzzle. I’m 24% complete on them now, I think.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360)

Since I was in Anvil anyway, and Crowhaven was just a short walk away, I decided to follow up the Grey Prince’s quest, and find out about his parents. Worked my way through the dungeon of Crowhaven, and killed Lord Lovidicus. Found his diary, and then worked my way out. I took a wrong turn on the way to the exit, and found myself being attacked by a Vampire Knight. Erk! I’d heard that catching Vampirism was a Bad Thing, …

Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)

Aside for selling a bit of fruit today, and collecting my letters (one of which was a present from the Town Hall telling me I have over 10,000,000 bells in my account), I spent a while clearing out my house. I was completely out of space to put anything, so packed my Snowman stuff away, sold a load of clocks and non-matching items, and went and ordered all the fruit furniture from Nook. While I was in Nook’s I cleaned …

Geometry Wars Evolved (360)

Hurrah! 196,000 points! or thereabouts, anyway. Not enough to unlock any more achievements though (of which I had two, not three). It just gets too hard when theres a billion things on screen all at the same time. I did manage to get the “Pacifist” achievement, though, which requires you to not shoot anything for a whole minute. Also had a go at “Retro” mode, which is supposedly the hidden game from Project Gotham Racing 2, although I never found …

Rez (PS2)

I got an “ASCII Trance Vibrator Pack” in the post today, for use with this game, so thought I’d best try it out. And it really rumbles, and rumbles hard. If you hold it, it can actually get quite painful. Not that you can hold it, since you’re holding the joypad. So I rested it next to my knee. In fact, just resting it on the other end of the sofa is enough, as it vibrates the whole thing. As …

Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox)

With Bastila rescued, it was off to the Cantina (as suggested by her) to find someone to help us all escape Teris. And lo, there was Canderous, who said he could get us a ship if we got him the Sith codes to get out of orbit. The codes being in the Sith base, of course. Firstly, I needed a droid. Went and threatened to kill the woman selling droids (yay! Dark Side points!) and she let me have a …

Tony Hawk’s Underground 2: GROUNDED 2!!

It seems I wasn’t quite as close to the end of the game as I’d thought. There was actually more to do in Skatopia. Bam had to trigger five sets of giant fireworks by doing assorted tricks on them (the giant roman candle and the stacked boxes being the hardest), and after that I had to skate Tony from the top of the level to the bottom, collecting dogs on the way. Yes, really. And that STILL wasn’t all – …

Sonic Rush

Went back to Zone 2 and picked up the Chaos Emerald there, before trying Zone 6 again. Managed to get through it this time, and beat the boss. Then it was on to Zone 7, and shock! It’s set on a spaceship, and there are gravity flippy things! How completely new for a Sonic game! Found a Special Stage on Act 1, and failed to complete it because it’s too hard. Luckily, there was the right sort of level structure …

The New Zealand Story

Played this on Taito Legends this evening, with the intention of completing it. It took me about an hour to work my way through all the levels up until level 4-4 – the Viking ship. Unlike all of the other levels, if you die and need to continue, you don’t respawn near where you pegged it. Instead, you begin again at the start of the level. Rubbish. And, since it is a pretty difficult level, filled with spikes in enclosed …

Metroid Prime Pinball: PRIMED!

Cripes. I didn’t expect that. I was merrily playing Multi Mission, and then I realised I had a score of about 3,000,000. Then I realised I had just collected the 12th and final artifact. Then, I was in the Artifact Temple place, and was defeating Meta Ridley, and then I was in the Impact Crater “fighting” Metroid Prime. Just like in, erm, Metroid Prime. And it was ACE. Then I killed it, and thus I winnared. Credits and everything. Of …

Lost in Blue

Gasp! I seem to have done loads more on Lost in Blue this afternoon. Not least: Finished my raft. The hardest bit was actually finding enough logs, as they don’t spawn all that often and they’re pretty rare. Needed about 12 in total, and you only get them at a rate of one or two a day, if you’re lucky. The raft took me across the lake, to a place where there was another cave, some hot springs (where you …

Zelda no Densetsu: The Hyrule Fantasy

Seems I haven’t played this in a while, and, with Spider-Man 2, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Pac ‘n Roll, and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan all out of the way, I thought I’d best return to it. And it is still too hard. I managed, after several attempts, to get past the first lot of Blue Dark Nuts, only to find a second lot almost immediately afterwards. More, in fact. Spent ages regaining bombs and health, only to die again. And again. …

Advance Wars: Dual Strike

Mission 18. A long narrow map, with two armies under my control – one on the bottom half of the map, one on the top – separated by a mountain range. On the far right (cloaked in Fog of War nastiness) was the Black Hole HQ. It was MUCH easier than I expected it to be, however. They did introduce another enemy unit (Oozium, which eats any ground unit in one go and is virtually indestructable), but it could only …
