Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 (360)

Lego games are awesome. All of them. Awesome. AWE. SOME. And Harry Potter is awful. All of it. AW. FUL. Who will win? Lego. Obviously. Just like the previous game. I’ve said this all before. In fact, Years 5-7 is very much the same. Sure, you get one new spell (water jet thing), and new levels, but Hogwarts is the same place and the assets are all copied across. It feels more like DLC than a new game. I suppose …

Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (360)

Well, that took a little while, didn’t it? Thankfully, that’s mainly because I haven’t played it rather than because it’s all I’ve played. In fact, it’s only really been the concerted effort over the last week that’s done it, finally getting the last gold brick and then mopping up the remaining achievements this evening. Like all the other Lego games, it’s an OCD fest, but also like all the other Lego games, it’s great fun and (two achievements aside) never …

Stuff I’ve been playing recently

I’ve not just been completing things, you know… Johnny Kung Fu (3DS) I was really looking forward to this when it was announced. Reviews were not kind, but I thought – they’re wrong, right? They were not wrong. Sure, it’s not terrible. And, separately, each level is fine. The problem is the game is a confused mess of Game & Watch, Kung Fu Master, and Wario Ware and it doesn’t really gel properly. Oh well. Marvel Pinball 3D (3DS) It’s …

Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (360): COMPLETED!

Of course, “completed” with Lego games means “I’ve done the story levels”. It does not mean I’ve gone through all the levels again in Free Play, nor does it mean I’ve found all the minikits, red and gold bricks, and done any secret/hidden/special levels or other stuff. Sure, I’ve done some of those things, but with a completion of just 51% and only 35/130 gold bricks still remaining I’m a way off yet… Knowing nothing about the TV series this is …

Lego Star Wars III (360)

So it turns out that I didn’t return to Skyrim immediately, instead installing this. I have no knowledge of the Clone Wars cartoon, and all I know about the Star Wars 1 to 3 films came from Lego Star Wars II, so I’m going in blind. Not that you need to know anything about the setting in order to play Lego games. You just mash X. I’ve finished the first 5 levels. I don’t know how many levels there are, …

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (360): COMPLETED!

My, that was a lot shorter than Harry Potter. Probably, oooh, 8 or 9 hours? And remember that I was stuck on the very first level for almost two hours. There were some long levels, but overall it was certainly shorter than Harry Potter. That’s probably mainly due to no between-level story and lesson bits. In terms of the “whole game cleanup”, I’ve already got half of the Red Hats, including the 2x, 8x and a second 2x multipliers, meaning …

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (360)

It’s more Lego! First, the bad stuff. It has crashed on me already – my console froze just 10 minutes in. However, it did the same on Lego Harry Potter last week, so it might be my 360. Then, on the first boss fight, it bugged out meaning Barbosa just stood there, indestructible, and I couldn’t progress. Finally, it seems so small! You see, Harry Potter was huge. The levels were big, but more than that – 4 books with …

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (360)

100%ed! That means everything done, collected, found, and achieved, with 1000/1000 gamer score and everything. Yay! Now I have to give it a verdict. I said at the start that I wasn’t a fan of Harry Potter. I’m still not, but somehow I now hate the series less. The game, despite the painful not-knowing-which-house issues, was excellent. And huge. MASSIVELY huge. Aside from the Star Wars Complete Saga “two-games-in-one” title, this is by far the biggest Lego game I’ve played. …

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (360): COMPLETED

Completed, but just 48% done. Well, actually 72% done now, but 48% when I completed it. But that’s normal for Lego games – the bulk is done after you complete the game. And what have I done? I’ve been scouring the levels and hub for a character who can do Dark Magic (turns out someone called Lucius can) and then going everywhere in Hogwarts to open up and access things I couldn’t before I got a dark magic character or …

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (360)

I hate Harry Potter. I’ve said this before, but it’s worth saying again. I’m not a fan at all. It doesn’t appeal, I don’t like how it steals ideas from so many other things then claims them as its own, and I can’t stand J K Rowling’s stupid smug face. I love Lego games. I’ve said this before, but it’s worth saying again. They’re simple, sure, but they’re huge, funny and tick all the OCD boxes that make me go …

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (360)

900/1000 points GET! That’s just one achievement left now – 100% the game. I’m at just under 90%, and to 100% it I need to do at least two things: 1) Replay every level in Super Story Mode, completing each chapter in under an hour. 2) Replay every level in Challenge Mode, where I have to collect all of the blue minikits, which are hidden, in under 10 minutes per level. So, being positive and assuming I do all that …

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (360): COMPLETED!

My first Lego game was the original Lego Star Wars. I played it to completion, but never got OCD about it and didn’t even come close to doing everything do-able in the game (getting True Jedi, all the minikits, characters, etc.) but I did enjoy it. Then I got, played, completed and 100%ed Lego Indiana Jones. And Lego Batman. And Lego Indiana Jones 2. I wanted to go back to Lego Star Wars but some of the achievements are utterly …

Lego Harry Potter Demo (360)

Torn. Very torn. You see, Lego games are some of the BEST. THINGS. EVAR. However, Harry Potter and Harry Potter Related Things are some of the WORST. THINGS. EVAR. So Lego Harry Potter is an irresistible force meeting an immovable object, innit? I don’t know. It was OK. But I hated it. And I loved the Legoness. And having idiot wizard children and beardman and a rubbish dog was stupid. But smashing things and collecting studs was great. But it …
