Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People – Episode 4 (Wii): COMPLETED!

I only started playing it this morning, but already it’s completed. It wasn’t shorter than previous episodes, just a little easier and I had quite a bit of play on it throughout the day. It was different to previous episodes in that you’re acting out a film that Strong Bad has made, called Dangeresque 3. A badly made film, of course. As a result, all the usual locations in the game have been repurposed as bits of set, and all …

Bubble Bobble Plus (Wii)

Who can resist Bubble Bobble? Nobody! Which is why I bought it! Again! I’m sure I now have about 50 different copies of this for every console and computer ever made ever. And then I bought it again! But wait! This version has extra game modes, and 2.5D graphics! And the same stuck-in-your-head theme tune. So it’s ace.

Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People – Episode 3 (Wii): COMPLETED!

Hurrah! I’m winner! This episode was, in general, easier than the previous two. I don’t know why, unless I’m just more closely tuned now to the way the logic in the game works or something. Anyway, second best episode so far. With the order being 1 > 3 > 2. But they’re all ace.

Lots of Homebrew Wii Stuff (Wii)

I checked the Homebrew Downloader today for the first time in ages, and found all sorts of new stuff on there. WiiLander was great – it’s an old game, sure, but with the Wii’s controls (tilt left and right to steer, rotate remote to provide more or less thrust) it plays very differently. Giddy 3 is a Dizzy clone, and although it looks nice the only item I could find to pick up was a tub of lard, and I …

Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People: Episode 3 (Wii)

I’ve actually had this installed on my Wii since before Christmas, but hadn’t played it as I was goingt o use it as a baby-in-one-hand, controller-in-the-other last resort sort of thing, since it only requires one hand to play. I started it on Friday, and it’s nice to play Strong Bad again. It’s funny, like before, and each episode so far has been vastly different, so although all the characters and locations recur, it’s not a rehash of the same …

All sorts of things (Wii)

I’ve been playing quite a few different things on my Wii today: CubelloI’m up to level 6 (although I’ve not done all of the lettered variants on previous levels) now, and although I can get it down to just a few blocks each time, I can’t complete it. It gives me too few of each colour, and insists on giving me colours I’ve already removed all of, which is annoying. It seems I can only do it if I fluke …

World of Goo (Wii): COMPLETED!

It took about 5 or 6 hours in total, but I’ve completed World of Goo. And what a lovely game it was too – clever, original, fun and funny. The levels were varied, some were incredibly difficult, and the “narration” by the mysterious sign painter was often hilarious. And it was weird. Really weird. Especially the bit in the Information Superhighway.

World of Goo (Wii)

Bought this today, as it looked fun and I had a big pile of points on my Wii. And it is fun. And great. And amazing. Who knew sticking balls together would be so good? It isn’t just the levels which are fun (and amazingly varied, considering the premise of the game) either – there’s a sort of toy bit, where you can use all your superfluous “goo balls” to build a giant tower. And see how tall a tower …

Cubello (Wii)

I’m sort of enjoying it. Sort of. The way the colours are often too similar puts me off a bit, and the way when you have just one colour of block remaining (and yet the game throws other colours at you that you can’t use) is really annoying, but it’s fun. I think. I played through 1-B to 1-F, and then 2-B today. Some were harder than others, but only in that I struggled at the end and often died. …

Pit Crew Panic! (Wii)

I think this video I made more than explains the game: If it doesn’t, then I don’t know what more I can say. I am, however, more than a little confused as to why there are just 6 different things to fix, when the trailers show way more. You seem to accumulate “cog points” (or something), but I can’t find a use for them. I thought perhaps they’d unlock stages, but no. Two player versus (“Abnormal”) mode is quite good …

Cubello (Wii)

Today was New WiiWare Download Game Day on the Wii’s Shopping Channel, and I bought this and Strong Bad Episode 3. Just in case I run out of Fallout 3 to play, or something. I gave Cubello a bit of a go, and it seems quite nice. I think I need to fiddle with the brightness settings or something though, as the black and grey blocks are both black, and the white and light blue blocks look the same.

Alien Crush Returns (Wii): COMPLETED!

Bought, downloaded, played, and completed all in the space of 30 minutes. That’s not to say it’s rubbish, as it isn’t. It has issues (mainly in that some areas of some of the “tables” are too difficult to reach, and the swooping camera is sometimes too slow to keep up with the ball), and is short, but it’s fun. And pinball games aren’t all about the story mode, are they? No – it’s all score-chasing! Sadly, the online high score …

de Blob (Wii): COMPLETED!

I’ve played this a lot today. Which is evidenced by the fact I’ve completed the final four levels (and hence the game), getting a gold on each, and each taking (on average) an hour. Yes, so I played it a lot. It started to get really tricky near the end, especially as it threw loads of tanks and turrets and inky walls and bottomless drops and all sorts at you. The final level, on a space ship, also had a …

Mega Man 9 (Wii)

I downloaded the Proto Man and Endless Mode content for this during the week, but didn’t really get a chance to try it out until today. Endless Mode is great. You get random sections of the game, tweaked a bit, one after another with no break, one life, and no shop. The idea is to get as far as you can without dying, with your record recorded in number of rooms. I managed 24. The current online leaderboard says the …
