Since last time I posted, this has been the game I’ve spent most time on. In fact, aside from Cave Story and a few iOS titles, it’s the only thing I’ve played. And I’ve played it lots. Still playing the same game, almost daily, nigh-on two months after release? That’s value for money – even if I did pay over £60 for it. What have I done since my last Fallout post then? Lots of things, actually. I’ve been and …
Oh how long I have waited for you! Yes yes, I know the PC version (and others) have been out – and free – for aaaaaages, but there hasn’t been a version yet for anything I own and use for games. Announced for WiiWare back in, what, 412AD?, Cave Story was hit by delay after delay, finally coming out in the UK on Friday. And oh is it lovely. Retro graphics, slightly broken translated dialogue, bizarre plot about bunnies and …
In 2005 I played host to the Annual comp.sys.sinclair Crap Game Competition. I’ve been working on reinstating the competition archive to my site this week, and part of the process involved making the entries playable online! Which means YOU TOO can play them online! Hurrah! Head thee over to the CSSCGC2005 page and see for yourself!
An example of what Spotify classes as 2000s “Hard Rock”. Here’s a link to it if you have Spotify! http://open.spotify.com/track/6JZq4AZCKOljVE5RVtTgXC Posted via email from deKay’s posterous
That’s right folks – since last time I posted I’ve completed the game again. Twice. Naturally, I didn’t start again from scratch, just from a point a few hours prior to my last completion (the joys of multiple save files!). I then went off and completed it both for the Legion as well as for Mr. House. Then, after that, I spent a merry half an hour from an even earlier save sneaking round Gomorrah with my stealth boy, pickpocketing …
YES. I KNOW. I hate it and I didn’t want it. We’ve been through this. And I bought it for the iPhone and the 360 and the Wii. I know. Leave it. So I played through the first half of the game today. And gained 23 lives on Casino Street Act 2, without even trying. And the game is still rubbish and it still doesn’t control like Sonic and I still won’t be buying Sonic Colours regardless of how good …
With 53 hours on the clock, I stumbled into the wrong questline and completed Fallout: New Vegas. You see, there are four main endings, one of which I disabled a fair few hours ago when I bumped off Mr. House. A second, siding with Caesar’s Legion was thrown away when I decided to get chummy with the NCR. I’d intended to carry the NCR route to the end, but I chose the wrong option somewhere and couldn’t be bothered to …
I’ve been sifting through job applications for new IT technician this week. If you’re thinking of applying for a job in an IT technician role (or any role, in fact), please don’t follow some of my applicants by example by following these handy hints: Learn how to spell “Microsoft”. Don’t say you’re “an avid gamer” in your list of personal qualities, especially if it takes up half of your list. When you print out your application form, don’t include all …
Fairly recently, Microsoft added a “feature” to Live Mail (formerly Hotmail, remember that?). It’s a feed of all your “social” activity, called “Messenger Social”. I’m sure it’s lovely and all, but in a school where we block everything to do with Facebook and MySpace (remember that too?) and all other fun stuff like it, but still allow web-based email, it causes us a problem. How do we block just this bit of Live Mail? You’d expect that just filtering the …
An amazing video showing just how quickly the power of the internet can make things spiral out of control with alarming speed.
“You can’t do an entire text adventure with just one location,” they said, “especially if that location is the smallest room in the house”. John Wilson, the author of Behind Closed Doors retorted with “Piffle!”, and here it is.
Remember folks, if you’re getting Kinect today, don’t forget you need a warehouse to play it in, otherwise this might happen! Of course, this could be easily solved – just like Nintendo did with the Wii – by encasing the controllers in protective silicone. (video via @thebeamish)
30 hours in now. This game just gets better and better. I expected it to be good, sure, but little did I know it’d actually be better than Fallout 3 was. There’s more variety, in both the quests and the way in which you complete them. There are fewer “shoot people” quests and more “do interesting things” quests. There are more memorable characters, even those who are incidental – Yes Man, Betsy, Keely, Old Ben, The King – all ace. …
