What in the name of all that is furry?

I just caught this while flicking channels. It’s some Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon which I’ve not seen before, and stars these two badly designed freaks alongside Sonic himself. Sonic who plays guitar. And the worst least scary baddie ever. And the channel it’s on – Pop, which I’ve never heard of – appears to have an annual budget of 17 pence. Amazing scenes.

I make noise now

Today, I went to Richer Sounds and spent far too much money on some audio kit. I got myself an Onkyo TX-SR605 AV receiver, a set of Tannoy FX5.1 speakers, and some more expensive than expected cables to connect everything up. I then spent SIX HOURS connecting everything up. SIX. ACTUAL. HOURS. And then, when I tried to put the receiver into my under-the-TV “entertainment centre” unit, it wouldn’t fit. So I had to undo all the cables and fit …

Drupal register_globals problem

Have you tried to install Drupal, and got a message saying your server environment is unsupported because you have register_globals turned on? Have you been unable to change this because your web host (1&1, in my case) doesn’t let you play with PHP’s settings (and quite right too)? Help is (possibly) at hand! It’s likely that although you can’t configure PHP directly, your host will allow per-directory PHP configuration changes. You do this with a plain-text file called php.ini, which …

Gizmondo resurrection: Exciting Psychic Worlds!

Just when you thought the Gizmondo Story had reached the final chapter, it seems there may be a sequel! The Gizmondo was a poorly realised and even more poorly marketed handheld machine, with built in camera and GPS, and with game and media playing facilities. Seven people bought one. Of course, the great thing about Gizmondo wasn’t the device, but Gizmondo Executive Stefan Eriksson. Eriksson had a dodgy financial background, links to organised crime, and, in 2006, crashed his Enzo …

Sega Superstars Tennis

Imagine a game like, ooh, Mario Tennis. Only instead of fantastic characters from the world of Nintendo, you have all those “great” characters from the world of Sega. Like Sonic the Hedgehog. And, erm, lots of rubbish furry things from Sonic games. And a monkey! In fact, two monkeys! And Ulala. Amazing. Veedayoh:

How to hack the RIAA website

Well, of course I’m not going to tell you how to do that. The black helicopters would come and take me away. However, it’s very easy, as these links show: Link with swearing in it. Link with xkcd image. Link proclaiming a love for p2p. Just to show you what these do, in case the RIAA fix it, here’s a screenshot: Note: Yes, this isn’t really hacking, it’s a image injection via URL technique. EDIT @ 19:30 It seems like …

Are you getting a MacBook Air?

You know, one of these: No, the laptop, not the very rich grinning bloke dressed in black. I’m not getting one. Of course, I don’t buy all gadgets (I’m more of a games person), but I do occasionally have pangs of gadget lust. In this case, however, I’m just thinking “meh”. It’s very impressive, though – incredibly slim and light, nice and shiny, and the “remote drive” features are clever (although almost completely necessary in this case). It’s just there’s …

Amazing “facts” from Christian forums

I’m not anti-[insert religion here] (some of my best friends are [insert religion here]), but some of these quotes are simply unbelievable. Do people really think this: Yes, that is a great company. I bought one of their large print version (old eyes… what can I say?). The only thing I don’t like about them is they sell foreign language versions of the KJB. I don’t think that’s right. We know the only true translation is the 1600’s version in …

Late for work

So this morning, I arrived at work some 90 minutes late. Considering I’m often 15 minutes or more early, that’s almost two hours later than usual. The reason? An accident. This accident, in fact. I’m not complaining about the accident at all. It looks especially nasty, by all accounts, and I hope everyone involved is OK. I’m also not really complaining they closed the road. After all, what else could they do? No, my issue is the way in which …

Bargainous Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice

The “new Phoenix Wright game”, Apollo Justice, is due out for Western DS gamers on the 12th February. Unlike the previous three titles, the Japanese version didn’t have an English language option, so those of us gagging for more courtroom “action” have had to wait. But the wait is nearly over! And, so sweeten the deal a bit, Play Asia have it up for pre-order for the bargain price of just ¬¨¬£16! Take That!

Kwari: Cash for Kills

Kwari is like some sort of online gambling/first person shooter hybrid. You play it more or less like a standard online FPS, but you get paid (actual real money) for your kills, and lose money when you’re killed yourself. Yes, it does sound like there’s all sorts of moral and legal issues with this system. Anyway, here’s a clip of the game which hopefully explains more:
