Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure (Wii U): COMPLETED!

The game’s title is a bit verbose, isn’t it? I’ll be referring to it as Scribblenauts Batman instead, because that’s what it is. Sure, the rest of the Justice League are in it, but then Lego Batman 2 and 3 have them as well. Batman’s the headline act. In fact, virtually every DC character you could ever imagine, including every variant (Earth Two, Red Son, Bizzaro, New 52, etc.) are also in it. And costumes to dress up other characters …

Pop’n TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventures (Wii U): COMPLETED!

In a (very) late entry into completed games in the year 2014, I give you Pop’n TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventures! It’s not a shoot ’em up like the other Pop’n TwinBee games – instead being a platformer with some elements borrowed from the likes of Castle of Illusion, Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World, but somehow totally different from all of them. Whereas in the shooter games in the series you pilot a cute spacecraft and take down other …

Kirby’s Adventure (Wii U): COMPLETED!

In those infrequent times recently, when I’ve not wanted to play Monster Hunter and my wife has stolen Animal Crossing, I’ve been skipping merrily through Kirby’s Aventure. Yes, again. Having already completed various incarnations of it on this Diary over the last 7 or 8 years, I was surprised to find it surprisingly hard this time. Well, not hard. Harder. A bit. This evening I polished off the last of world 6, finished world 7, and beat the boss(es). Lovely!

Castlevania: The Adventure (3DS): COMPLETED!

It’s about time I actually completed something! Skyrim has sucked most of my time, and although I’ve been playing other games, none of them are that near the end. This game was pretty short though, if a bit difficult. I wrote this about it last time I completed it (back on an actual Game Boy!): Oh my! Only four levels? Just as well as if there were any more, things may have been broken on purpose. Level 3 is the …

3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure (3DS): COMPLETED!

To look at this game one way, it’s just the NES game “Kirby’s Adventure” on the 3DS. To look at this another way, it’s OH YES! “KIRBY’S ADVENTURE”! NEEEED! Yes, I have played it many times. And yes, I have completed it almost as many times. And yes, this is just that game again. But! It’s in 3D! Of course, it’s not in proper 3D. It’s just the fore- and background layers have been peeled in and out, so the …

Adventure Island (3DS): COMPLETED!

This was up on the 3DS VC this week. I wasn’t going to get it, as I had other things to be playing, but when I hopped on to the eShop to see what else was newly available, I suddenly got the urge to play it. An hour and a half later, I’d finished it. I actually really enjoyed it. Sure, it’s a bit simple. Yes, it’s pretty easy (especially the bosses – if you’ve got a dinosaur to ride …

Kirby’s Adventure (Wii): COMPLETED!

This was pretty much forced upon me. I mean, I like Kirby. Especially Kirby’s Adventure for the NES. But playing it wasn’t really my choice. I was made to by my two year old daughter. “Daddy, play Kirby” she said. She likes it when I play Kirby because she likes to point out all the doors you have to go through, and find the ‘martoes for me. I played some last weekend, and the rest this weekend, completing it today. …

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure (DS)

OK, I’m starting to flag now. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s the size of the levels – which are HUGE. Probably too huge, actually. When was the last time you played a 2D platformer where some levels were almost an hour long? Yes, some of the time is spent puzzling not run-and-jumping, but still – it’s ages. Especially since you can’t save mid-level. It’s getting harder too. I’ve lost a few lives now, but still have over 20 in …

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure (DS)

I’m having a bit of a DS kick at the moment. Perhaps it’s the soon-to-be-released 3DS that’s reminded me about it? Or maybe the fun I had at the ugvm meet playing Mario Kart? Who knows! Henry Hatsworth is a game I’ve had on my shelf, unplayed, for some time now. Much like many games I own. When it came out, many people bought it thinking it was going to be like Professor Layton, but I was not one of …

Sonic Adventure (360): COMPLETED!

You know what? I actually really rather enjoyed that. I mean, it’s short, and the camera is a work of wonk, and the bit with the stone water snake in the ruins near the end was just stupid (mainly because of the camera) and the end boss was a pain because Sonic would glitch through him rather than homing attack him (so I’d die) but it didn’t really seem to matter. I had fun, and for all of its faults …
