Yoshi’s Universal Gravitation

Gah. Cutesy Nintendo games are not supposed to be hard. Or irritating. So why should Yoshi be irritatingly hard? I’m sure it wasn’t when I was playing it a few weeks ago. But now, after finishing off Chapter 4, and then the Boss (who I had stupidly assumed was the end of game boss, but no), it was on to Chapter 5, which is hard. I hate these “Get 80 coins and finish in 60 seconds!!!!” missions, and the “new” …

Yoshi’s Universal Gravitation

More levels on this one now. I’m up to World (or Page, or whatever) 4, and it has got quite tricky. Some of the “targets” I have to achieve (such as “Get 45 Coins!” or “Destroy 15 Enemies!” are hard as it is too easy to mess them up and then you have to start over. Not only that, but some levels have dual targets – get 60 coins and finish in under 75 seconds, or whatever. And Yoshi has …

Yoshi’s Universal Gravitation

Ludicrous name aside, this is actually a pretty good platformer. See – it is possible to make decent 2D platformers in this day and age. It’s a shame the tilt sensor is either “on” or “off”, however – there’s no analogueness to it. And my brain doesn’t work backwards well enough to work out I need to tilt left to move everything right, and vice versa. But anyway. Completed all of the first two “worlds”, which involved turning into a …

PowerWash Simulator (PS5): COMPLETED!

In some ways, this is the reverse game to Splatoon. Instead of painting everything you have to clean everything. And that’s all you do. Clean everything. With a power washer. There are filthy buildings, and objects, and vehicles. Different materials are easier or harder to clean, and you can buy special soaps to assist. Things will be out of reach, so you have to buy longer attachments for your washer. Eventually you need to buy whole new, more efficient and …

Scream Collector (Steam Deck): COMPLETED!

With a thousand PC games to choose from in my Steam/Epic/GOG/Itch libraries, mostly unplayed, you’d think I would never need to even look in the Steam store for something else to pass the time, right? And, if I did, you’d expect I might be picking out some high profile or highly lauded title that I don’t already own, yeah? Well, no. For I stumbled across this shambolic looking free-to-play clicker game instead, and then spent THIRTY HOURS completing it. No, …

Dark Arms (Switch): COMPLETED!

This game is one I have for the NeoGeo Pocket and I remember I enjoyed it at the time, but don’t remember much about it. Aside from you shoot baddies to get souls which upgrade your guns. Seems, now I’ve completed it on the NeoGeo Pocket Colour Selection on the Switch, that really that’s all there is to it. OK, so not quite. There’s a story which is badly translated and makes little sense, and you don’t just have a …

Horace (Switch): COMPLETED!

I previously started playing Horace on the iPad via a Steam Link from Windows on my Mac, but although I persevered using this setup for the whole of Lair of the Clockwork God, Horace’s tricky platforming needed something a bit more so a couple of hours in I stopped playing. Not that I hadn’t enjoyed it, just I thought I’d wait for a console version. And here it is! Firstly, let me get one thing out of the way. On …

Super Smash Bros Ultimate: COMPLETED! (Switch)

It’s 2019, and the first game to be completed this year is Super Smash Bros. And by complete, I mean, the MASSIVE new single player mode – “World of Light”. In brief, this mode is a huge map with lots of fight events on it. Some are simple one-on-one brawls, some have quirks like gravity that randomly flips or after a few seconds one hit kills you, and others have a number of unusual fighters such as an army of …
