Nintendo Pocket Football Club (3DS)

Those of you who know me are well aware of my level of love for football. The world’s most popular sport. The beautiful game. It’s all rubbish, innit. 22 overhairdressed pansies kicking a bit of pig around for 90 long minutes. Have you seen Robbie Savage? Good lord. My forays into football games have been short and infrequent. I’ve booted a ball about variously over the years in PES and FIFA and so on, but nothing has ever held my attention …

Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

Went through another couple of levels, embarrassingly only on intensity 2.4. They were quite easy though, with my new Pudgy Palm of Awezom Power. Its range is a bit feeble though, so I had to change my attack style to suit. It seems there’s a whole second set of achievements for the game too, having unlocked a new page of them today. Only have about 15% of them overall! After that I went and played the first level again – this time …

I am the Face of Words With Friends

There’s a game for iOS (and Android) called Words With Friends. It is a clone of Scrabble. Except for legal reasons it isn’t. But anyway. It’s a tile based word game. Whatever. Anyway. The other day, some random person started a game of it with me. This isn’t unusual, as there’s a random match-up facility. This person, however, asked me in the in-game chat if I was the same “deKay01” as was in The Telegraph the other day. I was …

Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii): COMPLETED!

I’m on a bit of a roll these last couple of weeks, yes? Another game completed today – Muramasa. The first thing to say about this game is: it is beautiful. I’ve not seen another game with such impressive, detailed, smoothly animated graphics in a long, long time. The animation, particularly with respect to back- and foregrounds is outstanding. Corn sways in the breeze, blossom falls from the trees… detailed and lovely. The game itself isn’t quite so special, but …

Super Street Fighter IV (3DS)

On Thursday, my 3DS arrived. And with it, was Super Street Fighter IV. And it is FANTASTIC. It’s just like the 360 version, only in 3D! And I love it. The controls are great, the graphics are impressive, and I’ve completed it three times – with Ken, Fei Long, and Rufus (who is amazing, by the way) already. I also played it online a few times, winning only one match. I was about to win against a Barcelona Roll-spamming Vega …

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 (iPhone)

I said I wouldn’t buy it. I wasn’t going to buy it. I really didn’t want to buy it. Really. But of course, I did. Rubbish. But is it actually any good? Could it be a surprise? In many ways, it does a lot right. Like, very right. Splash Hill, for instance – it’s ace. First level of Lost Labyrinth? Excellent. Mad Gear 3? Lovely. But some of it, like the nonsense of “get 100,000 points!” in Casino Nig^H^H^HStreet 2, …

Assorted MSX Games

I got given an MSX this morning. Not only that, but it works! Not only that, but it came with some games! What an amazing day. First up was Pairs. It’s a pelmanism-style matching pairs game, but you have a little man you have to guide to the cards to flip them, while avoiding the baddies. It was fun for a bit. Then I played Eric and the Floaters. The original Bomberman game. Coincidentally, I’d actually blogged about this very …

Yes, there are more games

I’ve finally got round to adding a pile more games to my museum section. And, having stuck them all in the database and scanned them all, I realised I have another pile on my desk. Oh well. They can wait. Amongst the games added today includes the not-played-yet and probably-not-great Rise of the Argonauts by Codemasters, which is notable because I won it in a competition a few weeks ago, along with a matching Xbox 360 faceplate. So much for …

When did Google break?

Over the last few weeks I’ve been becoming more and more frustrated with Google’s search. It’s only really one complaint, but it’s a pain. In the olden days, when you searched for words that Google thought you may have misspelt, Google would provide all the matches for what you typed in with, additionally, a link to a search for Google’s spelling correction. That is to say, if I searched for the word ‘stuipd’, it would show me all the matches …

The new Xbox Dashboard

I don’t like it.¬¨‚Ć Not only because I installed it accidentally, but also because it keeps freezing and the Marketplace is broken.¬¨‚Ć And I can’t find anything. And so much just seems pointless. I’m not saying the old dashboard was perfect, as it wasn’t. But this is bad in a different way. Thankfully, the install-to-hard-drive option makes the pain more bearable. It really speeds up the loading times on Fallout 3, and reports are saying that the difference it makes …

Exchanging items for my identity

I placed an order with Pixmania last night. Nothing strange in that, aside from the fact I’d normally steer well clear because of the times I (and other people I know) have dealt with them only to have stuff arrive with French power cables and German manuals.¬¨‚Ć But the thing I wanted was substantially cheaper from them, and when you’re saving almost ¬¨¬£100, you make concessions. Which was a mistake, it seems. Ignoring the virtually-impossible-to-remove “loyalty card” and “Zen extended …

Subscribing to WMV podcasts

A couple of days ago, I was asked, again, to download more Teachers TV programmes for staff at work. I don’t mind doing it, and it doesn’t take long, but I did wonder if there was a way of automatically downloading them.¬¨‚Ć Looking on the site, it seems they publish all new videos in a podcast. You can find out more about that here. So I fired up iTunes, and subscribed to the new videos RSS feed. And then the …

Grand Theft Auto IV (360)

Played mainly online today. Started off with a bit of Free Play, then Deathmatched for a game or to, before finishing off the session with several rounds of Mafiya Work. The latter of which was actually better than I was expecting, but seemed far too random to require much skill – whoever was nearest the target when it appeared tended to “win”. After that, I was kicked off Live for some reason, so played offline for a bit. I attempted …

Grand Theft Auto IV (360)

Just vigilante missions again today, and completed them all. Which netted me another achievement! Some of them were pretty good too – far better and more varied than the usual stuff from previous games in the series. I then played online for a while, on Ranked Deathmatch. Picked up another two achievements there as well, even though I didn’t do especially well.

This Week’s Roundup (360/Wii)

Another busy week (it was my birthday!) so I’ve got a bit of catching up to do. Wii Fit (Wii)Haven’t played this much since Tuesday, but did fit in a couple of sessions in the week. Mainly just played step and ski jump, though. Link’s Crossbow Training (Wii)Excellent! I got this for my birthday, which was pretty amazing in itself since it’s impossible to buy pretty much everywhere. It’s pretty simplistic (it is basically “just” a lightgun game) but is …
