Phoenix Wright 2 Hilarity

The original Phoenix Wright was funny. Really funny. Especially Sal Manella the film director. He hasn’t made an appearance (yet, at least) in the sequel, but today I came across Moe the clown, in Case 3. (picture nicked from here) And that’s not all… “In 1972 a crack clown unit was sent to prison by a clown court for a crime they didn’t commit. These clowns promptly escaped from a maximum security clown car…” Amazing scenes.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Blimey. This final case is a bit long! I’ve spent hours on it this evening, and not only is it more complicated than the previous ones, but you get new “investigating powers” (like examining objects in 3D and stuff). And it’s really long. I’m expecting it to be three days of trial (like most of the other cases), but so far I’ve spent several hours doing detective work and haven’t really started in the courts yet. And this Angel Starr …

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Spent most of today with the third case. It is much longer than either of the first two, and quite a bit more complicated. There’s this great character you meet – a director called Sal Manella, who talks in 1337 speak all the time. He’s hilarious. Again, I won’t spoilt it for you if you haven’t played it, but rest assured there are more twists than a twisted up twisty thing twisting around.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Like Atari MagiMix Sexy Razor Happy Girls 10 Game below, this game also arrived today. And, it too was on offer from Play Asia. I missed out when it first came out as I was worried it might be a little bit dull. I mean, it’s a game about lawyers, right? How wrong I was. I played through the first trial this evening – I was defending a friend who was framed for murder. There were plenty of plot twists, …

Paradise Killer (Switch): COMPLETED!

I’ll admit, I went into this expecting a somewhat different sort of game. In my head, it was a bit Phoenix Wright or Murder By Numbers, but it actually turned out to be a more-interactive-than-usual visual novel with a make-your-own-ending, in first person with platforming. Neither the reviews nor the screenshots suggested the platforming was even a thing, but it is – and it’s a pretty big part of the game. So, my interpretation of the world in which this …

Hypnospace Outlaw (Switch): COMPLETED!

Imagine Geocities was a place you visited via a headset while you sleep, and you’ve been made a mod and have to stamp out crimes like piracy, copyright theft and scams. That’s Hypnospace Outlaw. Surf webpages like you did in 1999, and complete tasks sent to you by the system maintainers. Download virtual pets and desktop toys! Read about conspiracies! Traverse fora about teen angst and musician worship! Get sucked in by Squisherz which definitely aren’t anything like Pokémon! Solve …

Murder By Numbers (Switch): COMPLETED!

One of my favourite types of game is picross. There’s something relaxing about switching to autopilot and completing a load of puzzles. One of the best, quirky game series of all time is Phoenix Wright, with it’s gentle humour, amazing characters, and murders. Murder By Numbers is both these things. I talk about it a lot on episode 33 of the ugvm Podcast, but briefly, Murder By Numbers is very much like Phoenix Wright only each time you find a …

Things I’ve been playing recently

Roundup time! Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) With over 80 hours racked up now, this became my most played Wii U title some time ago. No matter how repetitive it seems to be, even playing exactly the same mission over and over with the same character, it never gets boring. I have now at least started the Master Quest from the first set of DLC, albeit to just play about four missions to see what they were like. Since then, there’s …

Things I’ve been playing recently

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies (3DS) I completed it, sure. But then Capcom went and released a DLC case for it this week. So I had no choice but to buy it and play it. I’m not far in yet, as I’m still on the first day of investigation, but it’s awesome. And it has my new favourite character – Marlon Rimes. Who is a sort of pirate marine zookeeper rapper. Oh yes. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) I …
