Kirby’s Block Ball (3DS): COMPLETED!

I did start this a few months ago, and got to the end of World 4 (of 10). I don’t recall why I stopped playing as it isn’t a bad game. Probably something else caught my eye. Since I’m in the mood for mopping up started-but-unfinished games at the moment, I continued with it and after a couple of hours had smashed my way through to the end of the game. It was pretty good fun, but frustrating in that, …

Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS): COMPLETED!

In my quest to mop up some of the outstanding part-complete games I’ve started over the last couple of months, I went back to KI:U the other day. I hadn’t given up on it, or tired of it, it’s just other games happened. You know how it is. I wasn’t as close to the end as I’d anticipated. I thought, although I’m not sure what made me think this, that Chapter 17 was the final chapter. It isn’t: Chapter 25 …

Castlevania: The Adventure (3DS): COMPLETED!

It’s about time I actually completed something! Skyrim has sucked most of my time, and although I’ve been playing other games, none of them are that near the end. This game was pretty short though, if a bit difficult. I wrote this about it last time I completed it (back on an actual Game Boy!): Oh my! Only four levels? Just as well as if there were any more, things may have been broken on purpose. Level 3 is the …

Games I’ve been playing recently

Mutant Mudds (3DS) It’s really hard now. I’ve done all 16 main levels, some of the secret levels, and collected all of the diamonds so far. I’ve done the first three Moon levels, but the last one? Nightmare. It’s so difficult! It doesn’t help that you can only have one power up at a time, and you really need all three to make it through. I’ve swapped around which ones I’ve been using, but it’s too hard with any of …

Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure (3DS)

This is AWESOME. It’s like Professor Layton only with the puzzles mainly replaced with rhythm action games! Like, I don’t know, Ouendan Adventure or something. They’re fun rhythm action games too, with some catchy music. And a lovely graphical style. I’ve managed to find the crown, break into the police station, and get out again, so far. I’ve had a couple of run-ins with Napoleon (which is bound to turn out not to be him, surely?), and rescued a girl …

Mutant Mudds (3DS)

I’ve been looking forward to this for a while now, and leapt on it the very second it was available to download. I wasn’t disappointed – it’s excellent! Of course, if you don’t like difficult, old fashioned platform games, you won’t like it. But I do. Oh is it hard though! I’ve cleared the 16 available levels, but since I haven’t collected every diamond I’m not able to progress any further yet. 16 levels may not seem like a lot, …

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy (Demo) (3DS)

Final Fantasy games don’t interest me much any more. They lost their way back at Final Fantasy VII, and most spinoffs like the Crystal Chronicles games have left me indifferent. Aside from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, of course. And that Chocobo game for the DS. Er, anyway. As a result, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this Guitar Hero-ish screen tapping rhythm game featuring music from Final Fantasy games, none of which I’m likely to recognise. Thankfully, it was …

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (Demo) (3DS)

I have never played a Kingdom Hearts game. I recently bought the DS Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (worst title ever) game, but haven’t played it. After the DDD demo, I don’t think I’ll bother. It was terrible. The voice acting, the controls, the stupid Jet Set Radio style rail grinding, the camera which insists on pointing in exactly the wrong way at all times, and the seemingly complex fighting system (that appeared to be a bit like that in Eternal …

Games I’ve Been Playing Recently

Yes! It’s another lazy game-play-roundup-post! You know you love them! Oh, and before I get into that, a little bit of housekeeping: I’ve added my Raptr feed to the sidebar. Exciting! Skyrim (360) Somehow I got sidetracked from what I presume is the last quest in the Thieves Guild plotline (it’s easy to do – I talk to everyone and most people give me quests, so I’ve over 60 open now)  and ended up finding some more dwarven ruins en-route …

Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

Went through another couple of levels, embarrassingly only on intensity 2.4. They were quite easy though, with my new Pudgy Palm of Awezom Power. Its range is a bit feeble though, so I had to change my attack style to suit. It seems there’s a whole second set of achievements for the game too, having unlocked a new page of them today. Only have about 15% of them overall! After that I went and played the first level again – this time …

Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

I am wondering if I might actually have too many games on the go at the moment. Mainly Skyrim, Skylanders, 3D Dot Game Heroes, VVVVVV and now this. Hmm. Not being a fan of the original Kid Icarus from all those many years ago, I wasn’t really looking forward to the 3DS game. Until I saw some videos and reviews a few months back. Then it was an instant NEED. Frankly, it’s fantastic. It looks great, and I really like …

Games I’ve Played Recently

Roundup time! Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (3DS) Actually, the GBA version I got as part of the 3DS Ambassador thing. I thought I’d played it before, but I don’t actually remember any of it. It’s very confusing, as there’s no linear progression from level to level (like in Kirby’s Dream Land) or a map where you can replay previous levels (like in Kirby’s Adventure). Instead, there’s a complicated map system where you have to find different exits to access …

VVVVVV (3DS): COMPLETED!

At last, I’ve been able to get hold of a version of VVVVVV I can actually play! Yeah, I could have played it on the PC, but PC gaming is such a tedious chore I really couldn’t be bothered. I decided to wait (and wait, and wait) for the UK release on the 3DS, and here it is. Pretty sure the US got it months ago. Tch. Is it ace? YES. Is it hard? OH GOD YES. Look at my …

Mario Kart: Super Circuit (3DS): COMPLETED

I don’t know why I’ve been playing this throughout the week. I didn’t touch it when I downloaded it for free last year as part of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Programme. Not because it isn’t any good, because it’s great, but just because I have so many other things to play. Anyway, I finished it today. I was surprised how many of the tracks I still remembered – even those that haven’t resurfaced on later Mario Kart games. Strangely, though, …
